IBIS China Regional Forum Meeting date: 28 Feb 2020 Attendees ZTE: Shunlin Zhu Huawei: Hang Yan Synopsys: Kevin Li Xuefeng Chen Jianguo Zhou The meeting was led by Kevin Li. Since this is the first meeting, Kevin took notes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opens: - None ------------- Review of ARs: - None -------------------------- Call for patent disclosure: - None. ------------------------- Review of Meeting Minutes: - None. ------------- Shulin looked back the history of IBIS China Regional Forum and noticed a decreased interests for Chinese companies to engage in IBIS modeling and EDA tool development related activities. He sugggested in order to revive this forum, it is highly recommended to think from system and chip vendors' perspective. For example, system and chip vendors will be interested in how to use specific EDA tool for running IBIS or IBIS-AMI model simulations and how these simulation results will help them accurately validate or sign-off their design. Also, he suggested an active engagement in learning about latest trend of BIRDs and participate in BIRDs proposal and development is important. Kevin acknowledged his thoughts and suggestions. Based on Shulin's recommendations, Kevin suggested to collect topics that will be interesting to the IBIS China Regional Forum via Wechat group and arrange these topics into this monthly meeting. Potentially by discussing the needs from various chip and system vendor, different companies could eventually work together to propose BIRD for IBIS open forum's approval. Shulin thought this is a good idea as well. Shulin also suggested in order to make the IBIS China Regional Forum attract more participants. He would like to enquire the possibilities of having EDA companies or model generators perform limited commercial pitch to advertise products or services related to IBIS or IBIS-AMI modeling. Kevin thought this might be a good opportunity and would like to double check with IBIS chair for discussion. Hang summarized the current status-quo of applying IBIS or IBIS-AMI simulation in aiding his companies system verifcation work. He suggested that he would like to see more robust evidence from both EDA tool and model vendor that the entire IBIS or IBIS-AMI model simulations accuracy could be validated. Currently due to the uncertainty of reliabilities of IBIS or IBIS-AMI models from different vendor, his company is actually more preferring of using lab data as well as internal tool for ultimate signoff purpose. Kevin thought this is an opportunity for further enhancing the quality of IBIS or IBIS-AMI model. On final note before closing, Xuefeng expressed willingness to give out presentation and technical talk regarding specific EDA tool's ability for running IBIS or IBIS-AMI model simulation. Shuling acknowledged on this. Kevin asked for volunteers for meeting notes taking and Shulin referred Kevin to Chenxia, who had been working on meeting notes taking since the original IBIS China Regional Forum. - ARs - Kevin to contact Chenxia Feng (Celestica) regarding properly meeting notes recording ------------- Next meeting: 27 Mar 2020 3PM, China Time -------------
